Thai green papaya salad (known in Thai as 'Som Tam') is an extremely popular dish in Thai cuisine. It's fresh, and balances all the flavors of sweet, spicy, salty, and sour, to perfection on a single plate. After washing the green papaya, peel off the skin using a carrot peeler (or a knife will do as well).
'Tom Yum Goong' (sometimes pronounced Tom Yum Kung) is the flavour that defines Thailand! "Tom" refers to boiling process, while "Yum" refers to a kind of Lao and Thai spicy and sour salad. Thus, "tom yum" is a Lao and Thai hot and sour soup and is indeed the most famous Thai soup.
In Thai it's called khao neow mamuang, means glutinous sticky rice, while mamuang means mango in Thai. Within Thai cooking, sticky rice is the staple starch of northern and northeastern Thai cuisine (Isaan), and it's also commonly used in all sorts of Thai desserts.

Love this place. Have been going here for a year now and their food is always fresh and so flavorful. Usually not a long wait, and the inside is very nicely decorated, partly, outside, and well-lit. Servers are polite and the food generally comes out promptly unless it is super busy. The drunken noodles and spring rolls are amazing.They also have gluten free soy sauce to use in any dish, which is gives a great GF option for a night out!
It's been awhile since my last review here but we still love this place. This time we tried the Tom kha - which delivered exactly as expected, with fragrant lemongrass and galangal. The shrimp were large and not overcooked. The winner today though was the khao soi kai- a yellow curried noodle soup with chicken wings. The noodles were served both soft in the soup and crispy on top. We ordered a side of rice as well once the noodles were inhaled. Adults and kids alike adored it and it will be hard not to order this again every time. Service friendly as always and they've redecorated and it's even more welcoming.
Ono 'soupy' curry! Three of us in our party ordered curry. I ordered the green curry, my husband ordered the yellow curry, and my sister ordered the massaman curry. We all agreed the taste was excellent! We all had mild curry, but if you like spicy, you can up that as desired. I especially enjoyed the more soupy style of Red Elephant's curries. Similar to the contrast between Hawaiian Style Beef Stew and regular beef stew, Red's curry was more soupy than other Thai curries I've had. Though 'thin'' in consistency, the curry was 'thick' in taste!...
It has been a long time since I've been to a restaurant where when you walk in, you feel like you've been transported to an entirely different place, and that is how I felt upon entering Red Elephant!
